After the initial shock of losing my son, I contacted the insurance company that we have through my husbands work, The Hartford. We did not have a primary insurance policy, only a supplemental dependent life insurance policy for $10,000.00. I contacted them so fast because someone made me aware that most insurance policies exclude suicide no matter the reason. I read the policy and was totally confused by the wording. After talking to several people for over an hour, the only answer I received was that it was excluded, however to file a claim anyways and see what happens.
After receiving this news, I knew I would not be able to pay for a funeral or any other expenses, so I set up a Go Fund Me account and asked for donations to help with the cost. That account was heaven sent because we were able to raise 50% of the funeral costs for cremation. However we still have several expenses left. I would like to purchase a niche in a mausoleum at a cemetery to place my sons ashes in and to create a memorial. So far that cost is over $1000. If you would like to help with the expenses you can at www.gofundme.com/kevincharles.
My son, Kevin Charles was so giving and I am so blessed to have so many people giving in return. To assist with raising funds to cover the funeral costs and medical expenses, several people are donating commissions from their direct sales for a limited time. If you make a purchase of one of the following items, the commission proceeds will be sent to the funeral and medical fund to cover expenses. There are some great products here.
